Mad Fish Fly Company offers both full-day and half-day guided fly fishing trips for smallmouth bass, from a Clackacraft 16 LP drift boat. We typically float down the Mississippi River, casting flies to shoreline targets and submerged structure. Casting accuracy and efficiency are key. That being said, both beginners and experienced fly anglers alike will enjoy the fishing!

My favorite tactic is casting surface poppers, mice, frogs, and divers. Streamer fishing is fun and effective, too!

It is great to spend a day floating down the river, sharing fishing stories with clients, as we hunt big smallies together. Helping anglers improve their fly fishing skills, and then seeing it result in a big smallie in hand, is very rewarding for me!

GUIDED FLY FISHING TRIPS

FULL-DAY FLOAT (8 hours) $550

Half-Day Float (4 hours) $350

A full-day float gives us time to cover lots of great water and cast to as many aggressive fish as possible. Float times will vary with wind direction and river flow rates, but full-day floats usually cover 8-10 river miles in about 8 hours. Lunch and cold drinks are included with a full-day float.

Half-Day Float (4 hours) $350

Life can be busy, so a half-day float might be easier to plan! Morning or evening floats are a great way to see what the Mississippi River has to offer! Bottled water included.

All float pricing is for up to 2 anglers.
Each angler must have valid MN fishing license.
I use a shuttle service to save us time. (Monticello Shuttles)
I will contact you the week before we fish, to set up a meeting time and place.
All fly tackle is provided, but feel free to bring your own fly or spinning gear.
Alcoholic drinks are not provided, but feel free to bring your own beer.
Mad Fish Fly Company carries commercial guiding insurance.

What kind of fishing trips do you offer?

How and when do I pay my balance?

Cash or credit card can be used to pay your balance on the day of your float. I will have a card reader available.

*A gratuity of 10-20% is traditional and appreciated.

Where do you guide?

My main business focus is guided fly fishing trips on the Mississippi River in central Minnesota. I guide primarily smallmouth bass in the summer (May- September) and muskies in the fall (September-October).
